Southerna CA

Calimesa....

Hot ashes etc in a Commercial Dump Truck caught the contents on fire so Driver dumped the load into a field which ignited the dry grass and the 50 mh winds blew it into a mobile home park destroying 76 homes at last count....1 dead and 2 missing.
So far 800+ acres have burned.
("But BOSS...I saved the truck!")

5000+ acres burned...100K forced evacuations in LA County
High winds fueling the fires

Northern CA
Guess PG&E was forward thinking by cutting power BEFORE winds whipped transmission lines/towers and caused fires.

I went to the big RV show in Fontana today. Nothing better than an ORV trailer there.

It's a mess traffic here due to all the freeway closed going north. When you get 50mph wind and a fire in mobile estate neighborhood it can't be stopped. It's all ashes now. It's really a mess.

Right now every freeway out of LA going north is stopped or closed. Check out Sigalert for here, never seen it this bad.

Today it was Brenrwood up by the Getty Center. Multi million dollar homes. Several were lost. Do not hold to tightly to the things of this world. One day you think you are set, the next day you have ashes.

Thank you Coops, my friend.

Back in my day as a firefighter, we were told to never run unless we were "on fire." Well today, a news clip showed wild land firefighters running fast to escape the flames. Sad times.
I wish all on the lines the best of luck.

I saw that same video, the fastest I have seen firemen move. Today was a rough day in So Cal with winds at 70mph+. The firemen along with several winged fire tankers was able to keep the place from burning down. Things have changed, the electric grid is not set up to be turned off and on like a light bulb. Having a degree in fire fighting tactics and working 40+ years for SCE I have my own feelings and thoughts about this mess.

Retired after 40 years of wild land fire fighting and I feel for those people. The challenges they face fighting fire in the urban interface are incredible. I wish them all the best and that they all return home safely after this fire bust is over.
