Regarding the size of the TT and the required storage space. I have a wife who helps me to see clearly on these matters. When we bought our first TT, I wanted something around 20' and she fell in love with a 30 footer. After much discussion we compromised and purchased the 30 footer. When we bought our 2nd (and current) TT, I wanted to drop down to about 25' and she fell in love with a 34 footer. After much discussion we compromised again and purchased the 34 footer.
Life is all about compromise. Happy wife, happy life...

Until my wife, washes it, tows it, parks it and maintains it, she has very little say in it. She will get her kitchen counter and thats it.
I'm already thinking of downsizing. Tired of washing and waxing a 28' x 12'6 high trailer.
Of course we don't full time though. That would change things dramatically.

It's me and the dog full time in my "little" ORV 19B, but it works great. I can get it into smaller spaces like USFS campgrounds and National Parks with ease, and it's easier to heat and cool the smaller space.
I work for a company that sends me all over the place to work, and it's easy to get into gas stations, parking lots for almost anything like groceries or coffee shops, and I can use the smaller spaces at RV parks that don't cost as much as the big pull-thru spaces.
It has a lot going for it that I wouldn't get with a longer, heavier, more expensive trailer. And all the longer trailer would be good for is to haul more stuff. Stuff that I likely don't really need. I made a decision when I did this to have experiences and reduce stuff. It's working out pretty well.
STUFF

Agreed! Less stuff. Pare down and keep the right stuff, which is less than many of us think.

The world could use more leadership like that.

WE have a 34' 5th wheel with 3 slides and is 13'4" tall
It has 3400# of cargo carrying capacity.....but we didn't use it all.
7 yrs FTng traveling weekly and if you opened any cabinet, drawer, storage compartment you could see/get anything/everything W/O having to move stuff around.
Just because it has lots of storage (which is nice!) doesn't mena you have to fill it up to capacity.
LESS is MORE
1 bag in---2 bags out
And even with 34' ---3 slides it only works out to roughly 280 sq. ft of living space. And when one NEEDS time out it isn't that far from one end to the other end
34' is not difficult to put into spots, maneuver around or just park.
We had a couple of deal breakers when we were looking for a rig to FT in
Had to have truck......I do not fold up so small toad was NOT in the mix
Had to be able to walk from one end to other end W/O stooping/bumping head on ceiling
Had to be able to raise my arms in shower W/O banging elbows or bumping door open
Had to have kitchen/bathroom and bed that were fully accessible with slides retracted
Had to be made by a company with a GREAT reputation

Fivers have never made sense to me because they are so high and you lose most of the capacity of the tow vehicle to take a boat or stuff. Old folks really don't need more stairs.

So you're saying only old folks with boats full time?

No, I'm saying hauling a cartop anything and a fiver don't mix.
I'm also saying that with 4 replacement joints I am not fond of stairs.

Hi!
We have a Glacier Peak 28rks. We dont RV full time just 2 to 4 weeks at a time. It took us awhile but we finally chose the 5th over the TT and are very happy we did. It is so nice to have all the storage and not hauling stuff in the bed of the truck and that gives us room for firewood, gas can and a propane bottle. We installed a moRryde cargo tray in the pass through so we can organize things better. We installed the Anderson goose neck hitch so you can easily take it off and on the truck if needed. We find the 5th easier to maneuver into tight spots. I think with these newer models its almost impossible to turn so sharp you hit your cab. We mostly dry camp so we have tested this a few times LOL
We got the mid profile 5th so it doesnt sit as tall as a lot of them. Feels more roomy with the barrel ceilings. I dont think you can go wrong with either one you pick its just what YOU like the best. As far as price we didnt pay that much more for the 5th than we would of the same model in a Blasckstone.
