TT Generator Box
Hey all,
So looking at mounting my Generator Duromax 2200 to my ORV.
How have you all mounted your generators to your TT's?
Found this website with Boxes, they look pretty sturdy... Thoughts?

I've seen those. Too spendy for me but they're pretty nice.
I've never like having a gen mounted to the trailer. I've tried it with my previous 5er and a Honda 2000. What I didn't like was depending on which way the wind was blowing, it could blow the exhaust near the RV and I'd smell it inside. Like if you leave a door open or have an exhaust fan set to out.
The other thing I didn't like was it vibrated the 5er when attached to the bumper.
I see many of them mounted on bumpers so I guess it's all subjective as to ones likes and dislikes.

I was thinking about vibration also, I would think you would definitely feel it inside. Mine came with the generator rack on the rear bumper (dealer installed not my choice) I just pack firewood on it.

I found another box similar to that on a different website, different maker.. They want like 1200 for it.. WTH.... Is that thing made of Gold???
As far a vibration goes, yeah I though about that... I was thinking about putting some vibration dampeners on it and see how that works.
The Generator wouldnt be run while sleeping or inside the camper for the most part so not really 100% worried about that.
I had a AF 811 with the Generator on Board... it was annoying but tolerable.

I found this on Amazon
https://is.gd/A9TQmr
which looks to be a similar box except you would have to modify it with your own kayak hatches. I was thinking about doing this as well but it was more to allow me to carry the generator and move it from the truck bed. I have plenty of capacity in my trailer to carry it but not as much room in my truck bed. What I have been struggling with is finding a platform to mount to the bumper for the box to sit on. I need to use my trailer hitch for a bike rack so I don't want to use it for a carrying rack.

I think one would have to modify that box a fair amount. Fresh air in, exhaust out. Or you’d be removing the generator to run.

I can understand how it would be nice to have more bed space, But I like to be able to set up the Gen wherever I think is best.
However,
I use a good length of chain and a good lock to keep it secure. Plus mine has been customized with a redneck camouflaged paint job to further reduce visibility.

ORV installed for the year 2018 a swing out lockable tray for gas or genny on our 2018 24KTS.it was mounted on the rear bumper. It included the frame work and lock to secure the Genny. I removed it when I got home to free up weight. I have it, PM me if your interested. I had links to ORV to explain this upgrade but they have removed it. The manufacturer installs these on the front of trucks also.

PM sent. Thanks!
I was thinking using u bolts to mount to bumper..
That box you posted is definitely a better price point! LOL..
Figure would have to maybe cut out three holes for air like the box I posted...
Would be pretty easy. Need to check the size of generator etc and see if it will fit or if they have different sizes. Good find!

I have the optional hitch which makes for little space to put a mount for the box so here's what I did. I had one made for me. Solid.

That’s the generator bracket I have Modestmonk has for sale. It’s a very sturdy unit, and the mounting brackets and lock system seem to be very we built.

How much vibration do you get off that thing when the genny is running?

Good to know. I was leaning along the same lines once I get the carrier situation figured out.
Thanks!
