Up on the Roof

New to me 2016 26RLS GP. I was up on the roof detailing the plastic items up there with Formula 303. Taking care of sticking MaxxAir lids.

I noticed this vent installed up there. (please ignore solar eclipse in pic, its not a roof bruise Click image for larger version

What is it? I made a guess maybe related to furnace?? Didn't have one on the toyhauler.

Thanks!

That is an "attic" vent, just like one on a stick house!! Helps with moisture in area above the ceiling insulation. Keep it tight!!!

Thanks for the answer. Explains why I didn't have one in the toyhauler.

Not sure how only one would make a difference, but Outdoors must like to use them.

May use a bit of sealer on the threads to keep it from spinning off in the wind!

Uh oh, mine looks just like the one in the second picture and always has. Does this mean I am missing a cap on it? Was it never put on at the factory or did it blow off? I guess I just never looked at it that closely.

Off Road, the 1st pic shows what it looks like normally!! The cover twists in place, but they do loosen, and probably blow away "On the Road". I think that you can find a whole unit on line, not so sure of just the cap.

Thanks Tuquala, I figured that might be the case. I'm glad I keep my trailer in a barn or I might have water inside. I just made a mad dash to a trailer supply store and they had one on the shelf for $9.99. Is there a locktite type product that would work with plastic? There isn't much holding that cap on!

Don't know if there is anything recommended as to a sealant or loctite product. So far, last time I checked, ours is tight. But that can change suddenly!!!

Maybe a small screw could be put in through the side to secure?? Have to look before next trip!!

Thanks all for your inputs.

I used some silly-cone on the threads, and rethreaded it back on. Fingers crossed.

Hate to think of how much water would get inside if missing!

Be a good idea to add a blob of Dicor sealant on the corner of the skylight while your're up there.
