Wiring Question
Putting in a new 7 pin cable. The purple wire for back up lights, which I don't have, is connected to the electric brake wire running to the axles. Why????? I may use the purple for a camera or lights in the long run.
There is still the purple wire, disconnected, that runs with the wire loom to the back lights.
Any help on identifying this mess so I can do a clean cable management.

From 7 pin wire to Trailer connections
Black = Fuse Block
White = Ground
Yellow = Yellow to Rear
Green = 2 Greens to Rear
Brown = Brown to rear
Red = Red to Rear
Blue = Electric Brakes

Wiring
Sad to see that they're still putting in crappy wiring. My 2016 GP wiring is just as unprofessional.

I especially appreciate that they didn't label anything in there either.

I am waiting to get down in to sunny weather then isolate each wire. My red/aux might be for the running lights. The loose purple wired for a back up cam later or at least a light. I just have to lay on my back, ouch.

Is it possible to get a relevant wiring diagram from ORV?

Yes they will send a diagram direct to an owner.
No it won’t completely explain what going on in the junction area in my experience. But it helps.

If I recall, the purple wire is from the switch to supply power to the breakaway switch. Yes, confirming, on my 2015 Creek Side, the purple wire comes from the "Batt" side of the 30a circuit breaker to the "in" side of the breakaway switch then out to the break wire, though it does come out as a black wire to where it ties in with the brake wire. I would assume that all the "7pin" wiring diagrams are reasonably similar or at least, that's been my observation. And yes, the yellow should always be the back up.

Wiring
Good luck with your factory provided wiring diagram. I got the full set for my GP and found discrepancies right away. The quality of electrical work in these trailers is about on a first year apprentice level at best. They can't even cut holes for boxes or covers, they just drill out something close or knock a hole.

This is the tool ORV issues to them to create holes in our trailers......
It is true that the factory wiring prints are somewhat faulty. They don't follow them exactly, and probably never update their drawing files. I only use them for reference. You are screwed if you don't know how to use a multi-meter.

And sadly they are better than many trailers. The industry as a whole is terrible where wiring is concerned. I had to rewire the brake connections almost immediately. A couple forest service roads was all it took to shake loose the terrible crimp connections.

To KNT1966
In your photo you attached...is the white wire and what looks to be a black wire (both in a red sheath connected together? I have a lt blue and white wire in a gray sheet stripped for some sort of connection but both are left bare and not connected to anything. Are yours connected together at the end of the sheath?

you may have no power to your brakes
Welcome to the forum.
Go to the post from Gammel, "electrical issues, help" and look at post #10.
The deep blue wire is from the truck, and powers the electric brakes. From the crimp the light blue wire and the return white wire go to the brakes themselves. In KTNs rig it looks like they used some red romex, in mine they used grey sheathed romex.
From the crimp for the brakes a little black wire comes from the breakaway switch, which provides power to the brakes in case of separation from the truck. The breakaway switch is in turn powered from the battery via another little black wire.
That you have a stripped light blue and a stripped white (neutral) means, possibly, you have no power going back to your brakes. (I do see a hint of light blue crimped to the black but can't see where it goes.)
FWIW it would help if you would go to "User CP" and add information about your trailer model and tow vehicle, which will enhance responses in the future, esp from those who have the same model as you do.
Hope this helps. Again, welcome to the forum.
Howard
