99 Aerbus 6v House Battery Upgrade & More

Hey all,

Wanted to share our first of many upgrades to our 99 Aerbus, this is a new to us dual slide 36 ft Aerbus. We are exited as we have been out of the RV game for some time. We are in Southern California and typically head out to the open desert to ride and explore. This MH came from a friend who purchased it from a retired couple, who decked it out when purchased new!!!!

First issue after purchasing was (1) of the blue top Optimas was not holding charge and possibly is being drawn down. Ill get into this later. Since we needed new batteries and this was on the list of upgrades, it was time to do the 6V upgrade!! As you'll see we have more than enough room for 4 Costco 6V's. We will be taking the MH out for the first time over Thanksgiving so well see how its works.

Please don't judge the welds!! first time with the new Miller 211 on a long extension cord, but they will work.

We cut a flat peice to go over the supports. At first we just put in the flat sheet but with the weight of the batteries and no support the sheet metal wasn't enough.

More to come

I needed to make some new cables, so I purchased some #1 welding cable from the local Airgas, and purchased all the ends and shrink tubing from Delcity.com which was extremely cheaper than the local West Marine!! I also purchased a manual crimper from Amazon.

All wired up and ready to be put in, just need to make a new ground.

Unfortunately with getting all the bikes ready I won't have time to make the battery tie downs for the trip so a couple ratchet straps will have to do.

With the tight space of the compartment, the next step will be to install Pro-Fill RV watering system.

Down the road we will be installing an inverter system and solar !!!!
