You could be right Tony lots of strange things happen at the factory and it doesn't make sense for someone to change it afterwards.

flush both tanks then pour something that has am obvious color. Then drain that tank. if no color then you know that fixture doesn't drain into grey water. When done checking what should be grey water fixtures you'll know it they are all plumbed oddly.

Maybe there was a problem with shower/tub & sink to grey tank so instead of fixing they jiggered up a bypass?
