first i need help. what is the best way to remove the overhead tv?

so it turns out that the tv is is held in by pressure. it was very sticky with old gunk. i ended up cutting the bolts on the mounting brackets to get the housing out. had to pry the tv out with a flat blade screw driver.

i am looking for my Water Heater Anode Rod. i found a plug on the back side. when i removed it nothing there. did it rot away? or am i not finding it?

That is exactly what I found. They sprayed the sides with contact glue and shoved the TV in there. There is going to be a 4x4 electrical box in there that has the cutoff relay in it. That is what the TV was plugged into. When you turn the ignition on and off you will hear it click. It shuts off AC to the TV while driving. Make sure this is working properly while you are in there.


PS - I would love to see some interior pics. I am curious what your layout is compared to my 29 footer.

What brand/model water heater is it.
It may have a glass tank instead of metal, in which case no anode rod would be needed.

found it went to the RV store had them look it up for me. i am replacing all the drain plugs hi temp bleeder and anode rod. things are getting done

Nice rig !! Love the front curtains. You may be a candidate for the above the door flat screen TV in place of the useless clock . Turn the old TV area into useful shelving with room to mount your DVD player etc.

Glad you got it out of there. Our's popped out while going over some really bad roads by Los Angeles. My wife had her leg stretched out on the doghouse, and it broke her leg.

Fast forward to this past month, apparently it caused some significant internal tendon damage that wasn't discovered at the time of the original incident. The tendon became diseased, and she just recently underwent a restructure of the foot. Tendons were relocated, and her heel was actually segmented and moved over.

All this because of a TV using pressure to hold it in place.

OMG - That sucks!! ... I had work done on my left foot tendons 20 years ago and I occasionally feel it still today when the weather changes. That foot is also a half size larger shoe wise now.


My prayers go out to your wife. The rehab and walking will be sore for a while, but has to be done to prevent scar tissue from blocking movement in the foot.

wow that sucks John USA. took the rexie out for a over night test. found out all the faucet have some leakage. water heater wouldn't turn on or spark. fridge turns on fine but not cold. everything else was flawless.

Water heater is fixed yea it was just a bad suburban 160921 thermostat.

Would like to see the layout as well--we have a 1996 Rex Aire SL3650.
