Resealing shell to water heater flange.

I did something dumb and now the shell under the water heater has distorted and unsealed from the water heater flange. This happen a couple years ago on a bay door, but the flange was overlapping enough that I drilled holes through the flange and shell every few inches and drew them back together with screws. The water heater flange isn't so forgiving. The distortion is on the bottom. I'd hate to just fill it with sealant.
Any ideas?

A photo would help. I'm not sure what you mean by, "the shell under the water heater has distorted and unsealed from the water heater flange" If you're talking about doing some bodywork, I'd think step one would be remove the water heater from the RV. That would give access to the various parts.

I think I'd pull the water heater so the whole unit could be straightened and reinstalled with proper caulk.

A couple more. I'm afraid you're right about removing the water heater. Ugh.
