Here are a few more pix of my dash bezel repair.
The complete dash.jpg shows how many of the mounting holes were damaged.
The Dash from back.jpg also shows how many of the holes were broken. A few sections of plastic were discarded before I decided to rebuild the dash. That can be fixed with fiberglass cloth.
The Dash front.jpg and Dash from back.jpg shows the dash glued together.
The Fiberglass back.jpg shows how I laid the fiberglass cloth around the openings. If you haven't worked with fiberglass, know it's messy and takes some time. But as you can see, it doesn't have to be perfect.
The DSCN6220.jpg shows part of the dash primed. Note the cracks that are visible. They can be filled and smoothed. Also the top coat of paint will cover some.
The Section of dash.jpg shows how badly damaged the bezel was. Note not all broken pieces need to be repaired. Only those that will be visible when the bezel is put back in place.
The Side mounting holes.jpg is an example of a section that can bet repair with fiberglass or left alone. It is not visible when the bezel is put back in place.

Gary,
Did you get the transmission indicator fixed? We are back home now as we drove straight through from Omaha when Diana let the main door get away from her in the wind and it was torn up so bad I barely was able to close it.

Summer's finally here
Set up the 'ol girl up at our favorite lakefront spot near Ft. Collins, CO. We have had this exact spot for 18 seasons. I leave the Aerbus here for the summer. We can keep the boat tied up at the spot. Installed a fantastic fan while up there last week. She's running awesome. It just doesn't get any better than this!

Steve, we have not got the indicator fixed. We've tried several Ford dealers and no one has a part. We also went to a junk yard. They said if they had one they'd only sell the entire steering column. For a $30.00 part, I'm not doing that. Ford no longer stocks them and we'll need to order a part on EBAY or Amazon. Hopefully we'll make it to Wisconsin without problem and I'll try to repair. An online video shows a repair with glue and a couple zip ties. If that works we'll just leave it. If not, we'll have to order one online.
Maria said you've had more problems. A tire and now the door. We're lucky, the wind caught our door one time and I thought it was going to come through the side of the motorhome. The winds have been so strong since we left Rapid City we've been traveling between 45 and 50 for most of the way. Every travel day until this morning when we left a US Army Corp park outside of Valley City ND. We're at Red River State Park for the moment and will be heading up to Northern Minnesota and then to Wisconsin around the end of the month. In addition to the door, our big window awning began unravelling the as soon as we got on the 94 outside of Rapid City. I tried to fix it on a highway rest area and the extension ladder blew off the side of the motorhome and onto my back. No serious injury but a few bruises on the back. After another 50 miles and what must have been 50 times unraveling I managed to tie it down. I pulled on to a farm road to do the repair. I'm sure the mechanism is toast so I'll look at it when we get back. Aside from that, we been relatively trouble free.
We out of here Saturday morning. Looking forward to minimal unscheduled excitement until we're home.
Take care,
Gary

Gary,
I just checked Ebay by searching Ford shift indicator and came up with a lot of choices including one for 22.99 shipped. If it were mine I would put a new one in. Good luck and safe travels, we sure enjoyed traveling with you.

39' Aerbus- Quite the beast!
I saw this Aerbus posted on CL. It's 39' and has 2 coach doors. It's the only other Aerbus that I've seen, other than John's, that is this long and has the 2 coach doors. This one is a '93 which is older than John's. Here is a pic. This IPad only lets me do 1 pic at a time...sorry.

Buffed and polished
I had the Aerbus buffed out and new graphics put on. Looks like brand new. This is a picture of my grandson and his friend last weekend at the NASCAR truck race in Las Vegas.

New Owners
We just inherited/purchased our 1994 31' Aerbus from my parents. It has 27,000 miles on the Chevy chassis. It has about 55 hours on the generator. It is in great shape and we love the olde girl. We plan to full time in her for a couple years then move up to something newer in a diesel pusher. I spent 6 years serving on the last two diesel submarines in the Navy, so it is reminiscent of the old diesel boat days.

Hi John, I qualified on the USS Bonefish (SS-582) in '84 to '88. I then transferred to the Blueback (SS-581) and was there 88-90.

Nice! I qualified on USS Gudgeon (SS-567) in 1975. Every time I get a whiff of diesel, I'm instantly taken back in time to the diesel boats. It gets in your DNA, I think. DBF!
Glad you found your way here, hope you make a lot of new memories with your parents Aerbus...looks to be in nice shape.
