AlCan Info to Skagway and Ferry Info South

This is our first RV trip to the Inland Passage in Alaska, driving the AlCan up from Washington and taking ferries to Juneau, Ketchikan and Bellingham going south. We have a 2017 32' Newmar BayStar, towing a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude on a BlueOx tow bar. Here are my questions -

-We plan to leave Washington 5/6 or so and return around 6/15 to California. How are the conditions of the AlCan Hwy mid-May? I would like to understand the rugged nature of the roads and the issues with altitudes and sharp curves.

-Camping - we are told that, after Dawson Creek, scenery can be very unappealing compared to the remainder of the trip. We plan to drive 220-300 miles per day during the AlCan part of the trip north. Any recommendations for camping and lodging?

-Weather - We're told that many facilities will not even be open until into June because of snow. What is your experience traveling the AlCan in May?

-Protection - We've read reviews in this forum about protecting the toad and the BlueOx tow bar. Any suggestions or advice about the front of the RV?

-Ferries South - We will disconnect the toad from the RV. We are aware of limited days of passage, and no dogs on deck. Any insights from your experience would be most appreciated.

-Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan camping recommendations??

That is a quick trip. Good Roads. If you see a flag or warning on side of road slow down. Bridge floor are similar to cattle guards slow down. Altitude/Sharp curves no problem. If you hit a frost heave at the speed limit you will slow down for the next one. Some may be fixed/ some not.

Camping: Been twice, found it all scenic. 200-300 miles a day is doable. We boondocked up and back. All you need is solar or a generator.
I do recommend the "Mile Post", new or used copy.

-Weather - Snow?

-Protection - since I removed my Ad Flap, I have not had any issue w/ rocks.

-Ferries South - Book early

-Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan camping recommendations?? No

Great Trip,
