This will give you the most 4 lane Hwy. Anyway that is what we took down last year.

Thanks. Good to know you have been that route in your coach. I prefer to avoid arm chair navigators or advice from folks who have only done a route in the family car.

Yes, We have used this route 5 or 6 time with our 05 Signature. We are from Western ND. From Minot to Bismarck (Hwy 83) is 4 lane and then from Bismarck to Belfield (I 94) is 4 lane, from Belfield South (Hwy 85) will be 2 lane Hwy. The only other 4 lane Hwy North / South is on the East end of ND (I 29)
Not sure how you are getting to Minot, Hwy 2 East / West is a 4 Lane, & I 94 East / West is 4 lane across the state.

I am the National Directory for the FMCA Chapter we belong to and will be in Minot for the National Convention to represent our chapter. We will either travel north on I-29 to Grand Forks and take route 2 west or go west on I-94 and take 83 north to Minot. We are planning to drop down to Rapid City after the rally. Since we would be taking 83 south to Bismarck after the rally maybe we should do I-29 and 2 on the way there to provided different scenery. What do you suggest? We have been down I-94 thru Bismarck before.
As you can see I like to plan ahead.

Yes, I would take I 29 up to Grand Forks and Hwy 2 over to Minot, going up to Grand Forks you will see some of the Red River Valley. You will see the Crystal Sugar plants, some of the sugar beets, potato fields and as you go West you will get into the small grain country.
As you go West on Hwy 2 you will be going by Rugby, The Geographic Center of North America. https://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/11486.
The Theodore Roosevelt National Park North & South unit is on Hwy 85 If you take Hwy 2 over to Williston (heart of ND oil county) and then South. You will drive right by the North entrance of the park.
Medora is only 17 Miles West of Belfield to the entrance of the South unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, The North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame, https://www.northdakotacowboy.com/ Is in Medora too.
The Eastern & Western parts for North Dakota are way different types of country. As you go South on Hwy 83 you will cross Lake Sakakawea. The western part of ND is where the oil fields are (Dickinson, Belfield, Williston, and farther North) you will some of the oil fields as you go South from Belfield on Hwy 85.
Hope you will enjoy North Dakota

Thanks, we have been to Medora and the Theodore Roosevelt National Park, just not north of I-94 before. We have driven I-94 from Fargo to Billings twice. Looking forward to the visit.
