Can't change my travel dates

How do you change the start date. I have tried to edit position #1 but nothing comes up. I find no way to change it. It looks like you have to delete everything and start over. In the old version we could change the dates but not this one. Please fix or least give me back the old program that worked.

Are you clicking on the "pencil"?

When you open the route you will see your list of stops. Place your cursor over the fist place (your starting point) and you will see a side dialogue show up with a "pencil" (for editing) "i" for information & a trash can to delete. Click the pencil and you should be able to edit your start date. Use the same process to make edits on any other location.

I was clicking on the pencil. And waiting. And clicking on the pencil. And waiting. So that is why I posted that. Now I have checked it again and it worked. Thanks for your help.

Computers make fast, accurate mistakes.

I suspect thee was a server issue. I've noticed that I need a reasonably fast and reliable connection to get RVTW to fully load. Even after loading on a slower connection some of what I would think are "simple" things are just slow.

Following your directions, I get to the edit page, but the date is greyed out and can't be changed. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

Only the originating stop is not greyed out.

THANKS

The originating stop is the only way to change the dates.

Yes I believe that is correct that you need to change the origionating date. Other date changes would be achieved by editing the number of nights on individual stops.

But what about if you are planning your trip in pieces or want to leave open days where you are not sure where you want to be? We don't plan every stop in case we want to stay longer or see something, whatever. Can you change a date in the middle of a trip?

You "change dates" by changing the number of days at a particular stop. As an example, assume you plan to stay at point B for 2 days, then go to point C. You get to point B and stay 4 days. You simply change the itinerary to show 4 days and the rest of the itinerary dates will update. That is one way to do it.

You could ld also just build your trip in segments with individual legs that can be as many points as you want. There are lots of ways you can use RVTW as you wish.

BTW...I use a naming convention to keep segments in paper order. As an example I use the year-trip number. Like this...

2019-01 Yuma - Dallas TX
2019-02 DAL - Champaign IL

If I have created optional routes I might do something like..

2019-01 Yuma - Dallas TX via San Antonio
2019-01 Yuma - Dallas TX via Midland

Once I commit to a trip I delete the optional route. I now have a history of where I have been.

I think many folks expect either too much and/or don't understand how to make it work for them. RVTW is not clairvoyant and can't work with unknown variables. As long as folks understand that and spend a little time working with it it is a great tool.

Don, I like your naming convention.

The developers has indicated they are going to allow date pinning in RVTW. Why this hasn't been done yet is an unknown.

it takes time to program the software, coding for that type of modification can be very time intensive and beta testing is imperative. Can you imagine the uproar when they release the update and a new bug appears? Think Rand Mcnally GPS!
I have used the software over several years now and have been really please with how it has evolved and how they have continued to outpace any other trip planner out there. Obviously that just one man opinion.

I love RVTW too! There is no other program I've seen that is so comprehensive when it comes to route and camp ground planning.
The request for date pinning was made in Jan '18
