Crossing Charlotte , NC.
Going through Charlotte , NC. on the way to Lumberton , NC. Entering Charlotte from the east on I 85 . Is it better to go across Charlotte on I 85 then south on 485 to Mint Hill , or go south on 485 when entering Charlotte and around 485 to Mint Hill ?

Not real clear. I live near Charlotte and go through there all the time. Lumberton is directly East from Charlotte, so if you are coming on I-85 from the East, you'd be backtracking. Where are you starting from? I-74 (73?) cuts across to US 70 and would avoid Charlotte.
Let me know more detail so I can help since I know this area really well.

Crossing Charlotte
Salty Dog , you are correct . My post is not clear . It is also not correct . We will be traveling on I-85 from the west going to Lumberton , NC. My question , Which route around Charlotte has less construction and stress . We are planning to travel through Mint Hill then 74 to Lumberton . or do you have a better route in mind .
Thank you

Having just traveled through Columbia, Atlanta, Birmingham, Baton Rouge, Houston, San Antonio, Tucson, and Phoenix, I'm always amazed at folks that want to know the "best route". It's straight through, regardless of construction, traffic, whatever. All the roads pretty much suck. going around the long way usually actually takes longer, because the traffic is generally bad everywhere. that exposes you to more traffic, more bad roads, more opportunities for an accident and damage. going the through the middle of every city the traffic is usually slower anyway, which is better for big rigs.

Sorry for the delayed response.
We'd go around I-485 south which doesn't take you through Mint Hill. US 74 comes off 485 and goes directly to Lumberton. It's simple and other than traffic in Monroe isn't too bad. We've done that many times.
Going directly through Charlotte, I'd still not go on to Mint Hill - I'd get on 74 downtown but you are going to run into all kinds of traffic.
