Do you know the version of Excel you are running and the version of Excel that was used to create the file?

If the version of Excel you are running is lower that the version used to create the file, that file may not open.

I download the RV trip wizard from the wrench icon - "export to excel". It is in the download folder but will not open. I have Excel 2008 12.3.6

So you didn't download a file, you exported a file from RV Trip Wizard that is supposed to be "Excel compatible"; which means it is probably a CSV file.

Excel 2008 sounds like a Mac version. You will probably have to open you Excel program, go to File ==> Open and import the CSV file that way in order for Excel to open it.

Actually, it appears they export it as a true Excel file with the .XLSX extension which should open up directly in Excel in any PC version after 2003. Can't speak for Mac versions though.

No, RV Trip Wizard exports the file in an Excel .xlxs file format. Sounds like the issue is with the OP's Excel software.

Ron, could you send the file to me or another poster and we'll try and open it. That will at least narrow down the issue for you. I'm assuming you have tried exporting the file a second time to ensure it wasn't corrupted during the export. BTW, I'm running Excel 2016.

I was going to offer as well. I've got 2010 on mine. Maybe save it as an XLS file and see if that'll open.

I tried a little later and it opened okay. The only difference is the file suffix. The file that would not open is .xls the one that would open was .xlsx.xls. I did nothing divergent to cause the change that I know of.

Thanks for your help. Ron
