Ignored RV Height

I created a new trip to Spokane, WA and RVTrip Wizard routed me under a 13'-4" bridge, even though I had my RV height set at 14'. I even changed my height to 15' and it set the same route. The low bridge warning was on their map, so I verified by going to street view in google maps. I can drag the route to correct to the route that the campground (North Spokane RV Campground) suggests, but I worry if that happened on this trip, what other low bridges is the program missing.

I found that I can’t rely on RVTrip Wizard for detecting low bridges. I still use for trip planning and other features so hopefully they will improve the application. I found I have to use a couple apps to validate my route. I use the Good Sam planner and Allstays app. I found eleven low clearances in Good Sam on my last trip and none were shown in Trip Wizard. I sent the information to Trip Wizard and never heard anything back. Go figure?

Yes I also use multiple maps to confirm my route. Glad I did also in this case. My concern was the TripWizard clearly ignored a low bridge that was in it's own database and planned my route under it.

Didn't the developers post a month or so ago in another topic that the underlying routing is simply Google Maps and that it doesn't take into account route restrictions for height, weight, length, and suitability (such as no parkways in NY) when creating routing?

(ETA - here is the post regarding that http://www.irv2.com/forums/f287/no-c...ml#post4209814 )

What route are you taking through Spokane to the RV park and where is the 13' 4" bridge?

I downloaded the POI file for bridge clearances from lowclearances.com and imported the poi file into Garmin's base camp. Base camp doesn't route me around those low bridges but I can see where they are in reference to my route.

Generally I route plan in RVTW and import the file to base camp.

During a trip up to New York state, we learned about bridge height issues. Wandering through the net, I read about Truckers' Road Atlases (paper kind). They indicate clearance for all the bridges.

Stopped at the next truck stop and hunted for one. No joy.
Asked the woman behind the counter and she laughed and pointed to the "Novelty" section...

Hey, but it was marked down to half price!

The RV trip Wizard has me coming in on Stoneman Road and the low bridge is a railroad crossing just before 395

I thought that may have been the one you were talking about. I ran into the same issue the first time we came through Spokane.

Yeah, I reported the same problem a few months ago, both on this forum and a direct email to RVTW support. http://www.irv2.com/forums/f287/new-...tw-393759.html

I have not heard anything back from RVTW support.
I checked the warning area on Google Maps in the Street View and went around it. The CG we were on our way to, recommended a slightly different route to them, anyway.

There are a number of bridges is Spokane that are not maker correctly. I drove a commercial 13'6" Class 8, stopped in front of a 13'4 sign when another local class 8 came trough asked whats wrong? Height. Not a problem I come through every day and my stacks are 13'6". I eased through with room to spare. Same in NY not sure what the fix is, have someone outside watch. Call the camp ground and ask, most RV's are similar in height, I'm 13'3" on top of the A/C units.
