Split / Join Trips

While (not) sleeping last night... I thought of a tool that might (or might not) be useful...

The ability to split one long trip with multiple stops into two shorter trips. Conversely, joining multiple short trips into one longer trip.

What think you on the usefulness of this?

It's a good idea that comes up from time to time. There is a quick and dirty way to split a long trip now. First copy the trip, then delete half the stops from each copy. Be sure and delete different halves! Joining two short trips might be handy, but if they are really short, just recreating the stops onto an existing trip isn't that hard. Still, the idea should not be discounted.

As far as merging trips is concerned you are correct that it isn't hard IF they are really short trips AND there are no changes to any stops such as notes or cost changes.

A friend and I have been experimenting with the "Send too a Friend" feature of RVTW. If I share a trip with my friend, she makes changes, then reshares it with me, I get a second copy of the trip. If in the meantime I've made changes to my original trip, I now have to manually figure out what's been changed and manually merge the trips. this really limits the usefulness of this trip sharing function.

I do what Pbucha does. I plan a trip then copy it and make smaller trips. We don;t travel with anyone so we have no need to share a trip.

Curious: What software have you used that allows that?

I don't... just seems useful to me in a small way.
