Splitting a trip

I am a fairly experienced user of Trip Wizard but I am running into an issue I have not been able to find an answer for. For good (to me) reasons, I created a single trip of some 4000 miles with stops along the way. Now that I can see the whole trip, I would like to split the trip into the legs that I will actually take so I can upload these legs as separate files into my GPS. I know how to upload. The question is, how can I split the total trip into various legs? The only way I have been able to find is to make copies of the total trip, and then in the copies delete all the stops that I don't need in that copy. That works, but it is pretty labor intensive. It would be very nice if I could just copy the stops I want and then paste them into a new trip, but I haven't found any way to do that. Can anyone suggest a way to split this 15 day trip into legs other than the way I already mentioned?

That is the only way I have ever heard of. Once I fell into that trap I started creating a trip for each segment. We are heading to Alaska, I now have Alaska 1 - PHX to SLC; Alaska 2 -SLC to Roosville(that's in BC) etc.

I actually found it much more manageable overall. But then I don't need to plan too much, retired and fulltime.

Thanks

Thanks, Sue. I usually do plan in legs, but for this trip, I needed to see the whole thing to make sure a few fixed dates will work out. Now that I have that done, I can break it down to the way I’ll actually drive it. Unfortunately, we are not full time, but even if we were, the two big fixed dates I’m having to work in are beyond my control. I do appreciate your reply.

I'm not sure if this will help you, but if you import your Trip Wizard multi leg trip to Garmin's Base Camp that process will split your entire trip into individual legs. The individual legs in Base Camp import as tracks. It's a simple process to convert the tracts to routes. Now each leg of your RVTW trip is a route and can be downloaded into your Garmin GPS.

I too am headed to Alaska this summer. I've created 3 trips in RVTW, one trip is from our home to our assembly point in Montana, one is from Montana to AK and back to Montana and one is from Montana to home.

I then have RVTW print the trips in a Spread Sheet which shows each individual leg. Handy for making CG reservations.

Thanks!

Thanks, Tim! I had not thought of that. I have Base Camp on my MacBook Pro, so I can certainly give that a try. I appreciate your thought.

And safe travels on your trip to Alaska.
