Time of departure

I realize to many of the full time RVers time is relative however I am still in the working and limited time category.

On the trip planner there is no place to set time of departure and have that indicate time of arrival. It shows time for each leg of the trip but no time which is helpful but still lacking. I would also like to be able to set time for fuel stops.

Call me OCD, I'll accept that.

Regarding time for Fuel stops. That would be a complete guessing game. If you have a 40 MPH head wind, or going up a 10,000 foot pass you will use a lot more fuel. Going downhill from passes etc. conserves fuel so time is kind of useless.

Many of us just drive on the top half of our tanks and start looking at that point.

Regarding time of trip. When you put the tripntoyour GPS it will calculate your arrival time and some will adjust for traffic and other delays.

As fulltimers we are more interested in the length of a leg of the trip than the entire trip. A good ball park estimate is to look at the total miles and divide by 50.

Email RVTW suggesting the total time be posted on a trip.

Yes, GPS works fine, got one. This is a "trip planning tool" my end game is planning for when I will arrive at destination.

The time I get to the fuel stop isn't important, I want to be able to set it to calculate that I will be at said stop for 20 minutes and have it planned into the trip.

I have a cross country coming up that will be about 30 hours nonstop. Switching drivers, not crazy enough to do that on my own.

I am not aware of any mapping tool that offers that much micromanagement. Maybe you shoud look into some trucker applications, they might offer that but I doubt it.

I use an Iphone/Ipad app called inRoute. It has input for:

Start time

Layover times

Outputs arrival times at each stop/waypoint and destination.

Layovers are adjustable by the hour or can be set to a departure time and date

I have used it to plan cross country round trips. On long trips I break down the trip into shorter segments.

Also has limited search capability for fuel/campgrounds along route.
