Trip from FL to WA mid December

My husband and I want to go from PC FL to Bellingham WA in mid December.
Anyone have any input?? The main roads will be cleared if any snow develops otherwise I think it’ll be fine!

I have traveled the other way, from Washington to Florida, in November for the last 10 years. IMO, the best route to avoid snow (you will still have cold/freezing weather) is I-10 to California, then I-5 north. I do avoid Los Angeles by taking a "jog" thru Barstow and then to Bakersfield, then back to I-5. You will still likely encounter snow in northern CA and Southern OR. Just watch the forecast, and be prepared to sit-it-out if there is snow over the passes. I never have, but you are required to carry tire chains. While not common, you may still encounter snow as you pass thru northern Oregon and southern Washington. If you need any details re the trip, let me know. PS. fuel in CA is expensive, and if you are towing the speed limits is 55 mpg.

I hope you have a good reason and are not traveling by RV.

What concerns me is that you are asking the question.

I am in Washington now and I plan to gone before any hint of snow or black ice.

All my driving life I have driven in snow. Properly prepared you can travel by RV.

The route that Dick 1142 is good and sound advice. The problem is that mild climate drivers and governments are clueless in bad weather.

If you are prepared to sit it out it is just enjoyable another day in the RV. I have one basement compartment for winter emergencies.

Dick1142 is right on the money. I did that drive 5 years ago - Florida Keys to Bellingham WA (where I am now), I-75 to I-10 to I-5. Drove it in a 28’ Breeze (class-A motorhome) towing a Jeep Wrangler in early March. No snow, nor would I expect any on this route in December, although there will be snow in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest then. Safe Travels!

The thought of driving in a big rig on snow is scary, but we have driven these conditions without a single problem. Just give yourself time to brake and watch for other drivers.
Its beautiful driving through the Northwest with a little snow. Best of luck
