West Michigan to Custer State Park SD

We are starting to plan a trip to Custer State Park in SD this spring. We passed it a couple years ago on our way to Yellowstone and always wanted to check it out. Any recommended RV parks near? Any other stops we should consider? We will have our 3 grand kids with us (14, 9 and 7). Tentative plan is for early May.

When we went to South Dakota, we stayed at the Rafter J Bar RV park. It was just south of Hill City (Intersection of Hwy 16 and 244) making the RV park very close to Mt. Rushmore, Custer Park, Crazy Horse Memorial etc etc.

Animals and Road trips - Caves - Lakes - and Streams will help with all the Rocks - Badlands as a drive through (Couple hours and a short hike - Wall Drug is required - in May water and things will still possibly be cool so the Pool is not as popular - Custer State Park.

Give the Grands a list of possible day trips and let them research - will help to keep them engaged.

Just search any list for CG's - we enjoyed Custer's Gulch - but with kids Rafter J may be in your future

Sioux Falls is a town the kids will like on the way out or Back - Mall of America might be a stop also - https://www.minneapolis.org/things-t...ll-of-america/

We stayed at Lake Sheridan South Shore CG. A USGS campground. Several sites right on the lake. No hookups but a beautiful CG.
