What is the best trip planning web site

What is the best trip planning web site, is it free or is there a fee?

How do you prepare and plan your trips?

Trip planning can involve many different aspects. Their is the navigation, attractions, overnights, climate, among many more. Below are a few free websites I use. I look forward to learning what other gems are out there in cyberspace. If you drop a hint as to what type of info you are trying to find, the group can refine the list of websites for you.

I have been using RV trip Wizard (rvtripwizard.com) lately and have found it to be exceptionally full featured. The gotcha with it is that you must be online to use it and they do have an annual subscription price associated with it.
I like it but YMMV - Steve

We will be taking a slow trip down and a slow trip back from Rochester NY to Fort Myers Fl

We want to travel two different routes, one down and one back.

We have the option of towing an open trailer with a Jeep as a run about, or not (we are working on an enclosed trailer but because of the need for extra height will not be able to get one for this trip (has to be ordered))

We are interested in scenic views, POI dealing with industrial revolution (not interested in civil war)

What was the best spot you have stopped at on this trip and the best way to travel.

Was a run about needed at this stop (can we park the MH 39 foot American Dream) at the POI?

I have been experimenting with the Good Sam trip planning app on my IPad. Membership is required. Features allow the input of RV characteristics and routing preferences. Winnebago is under cover until next spring so no real experience with it yet.

Besides those mentioned, Streets and Trips is a good one. I use it to compare time and distance by route, find nearby places, calculate fuel costs, etc. Google maps is a quick and easy way to look at routes, time, distance, but does not find nearby places.

Google maps, Google Earth that offers good views of RV sites, Mapquest, Rand McNally Atlas combined with their GPS, iPad apps and ever reliable RVPark Reviews. We always plan ahead thus eliminating difficult issues. YMMV!
