29-5T fresh water pickup?

We have a 29-5T 5th wheel. I don't like to travel with a full tank, water is heavy so I usually only keep about 10 gallons in the tank for flushing, hand washing etc on the road, but the pump will only pick up if the trailer is tilted a little to the right (entry) side. I haven't taken the time to open up the belly and look to see if I can figure out a way to improve the pickup line, has anybody here had this issue and maybe provide some insight on how to improve the pickup for low water level?

It would be easier and cheaper to add another 10 gallons of water than any other permutation. I doubt another 85 pounds of water will make any difference in towing.
