New 28-5C fifth wheel

Looking forward to seeing the new 28-5C model.
I have question about it. Northwood says it has a 50amp only. Does that mean it can't be hooked up to a 30amp and if you did, what would be the result? Would the air conditioner run, etc.? Trying to decide on the 295T or the new 28-5C. Haven't seen one yet. thanks

Welcome to iRV2.

50 amp RV power; two hot legs of 50 amp 120 volt power, total of 100 amps available; is required for all systems in the RV to be operating at once.

You can use the RV with a 30 amp power source and adapters; BUT!!! you're only getting 30% of the power required, so energy management is required .
If the RV has two air conditioners , you can only use one, you must turn off the AC when using the microwave , etc. etc. etc.

Think of 50 amp service as being 240 vac, single ph, just like your house. 120vac @ two legs = 240 vac.

Get a dog bone adapter and you can plug your 240vac into 120vac. However if there is anything requires 240 vac then we have a problem houston.

Wattage is usually the issue

120 x 30= 3600w
240vac 12000 w
120 x 50= 6000w
120 x 50 = 6000w

Brought home 295T yesterday. Decideded against 285C. Was a difficult decision to make but the 285C con list was too great. No longer a wannabe!

Just looking at the pics of the 28-5C it seems the tv viewing from the right side on the sofa would be a little distracting. Also in that short of a TT, the island and weird dinette seems cluttered.
The 29-5T is way more open and gives you another seating option.

We have 30 amp service, and we can use the microwave and AC at the same time, same as our last 5er.

Just FYI.

Congrats on your new 29-5t. That is a nice trailer. My wife's favorite.

I think I'd like the 28-5c more if they got rid of the island sink and moved it to the pantry wall. Made the couch slide out a stationery wall (not a slide). Then flipped the dinette over. It would be more conducive for guests and conversation. It's a nice length, but it's not usable/pack-able with the slides in.

edit... Larger tanks too. The large capacity tanks of the 27-5 are a huge plus for me. It would be great to see these on the 28-5 as well.
