Solo road trip to Alaska.

Due to a last minute family medical emergency , my wife had to bail out on our Alaskan road trip, to care for a family member in need. We had planned this trip for years and with.her encouragement, I hit the road alone in our truck camper. For those of you who have considered a similar solo adventure. do not hesitate, do it ! The spectacular never ending scenery, the interesting people, the wildlife was wonderful. Solo travelers are really free to go when and where they want, stop , eat, sleep, fish, or do whatever materializes. I was never lonely, or bored. There were a surprising number of us lone travelers on the road, and I found the RV community to be a friendly bunch.
Don’t let friends and family discourage you, go for it. My 2 month trip was fantastic.

The long drive to Alaska isn't like planning a trip across a couple states on the interstate.

Every year RV parks close. They have a very short season. You just drive until you're ready to stop and do so. There are plenty of lovely boondocking spots and usually the small towns would have one RV park. You're not going to find 'resorts' or anything near them. You will find gravel parking lots, for the most part and many with minimal electric. This trip isn't for sitting in a RV park. It's for exploring!

Ourselves... we used the boondocking spots, provincial parks and national forest sites. We don't do RV parks.
