1999 Fleetwood Elkhorn Water Heater Issue

Hello,

I just got this camper and I can't get hot water out of the hot water heater with kitchen or bathroom faucet. There is a T ball valve inside under the sink. When opened I get cold water when I turn on the hot water in the kitchen or bathroom. When closed I get no water in kitchen or bathroom.

Here is what I checked so far:

1) Lit Pilot light and watched for 20min as it heated up then the flame shut off once it got hot.
2) Turned on the outside valve at the water heater on and hot water came out
3) Made sure the external or outside shower valves were closed

I must be missing something easy on this. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, Jeremy

There is a winterizing bypass loop for the heater. Make sure your two valves are not bypassing the hot water.

When you OPEN that T Valve you et cold water thru hot water lines.........THAT is the Water Heater BYPASS Valve
**Normal position is CLOSED
**Winterizing position is OPEN/Cold inlet closed bypassing WH Tank

Check Valve in HOT outlet (top fitting ON the WH TANK) has FAILED...clogged/dislodged etc----not allowing flow of Hot water OUT

Replace the check valve or remove it and install a hot out shutoff valve

2 valve system...cold in and a bypass with check valve in hot out
