So, I have found a killer deal on a 1997 KZ Sportsmen 951. It's a 9.5 long camper and the black tank runs side to side at the rear of the unit behind it's bumper. My truck however is a 99 F250 4x4 with the 7.3 but it's a 6.5 bed. When I went to look at the camper I determined that if I leave the tailgate down I could not back it into the truck all the way because that black tank hangs down just a few inches below the floor level across the back and it could get crushed by the tailgate. Now, I have considered using a spacer like wood or a larger piece of 2" thick pink foam board as a spacer on the floor to lift the rig up just enough to eliminate the issue, but I don't know if it will be a major issue to haul it in the 6.5 bed with the tailgate on? (I do plan on towing a lightweight landscape trailer with my 1100# UTV on board)
I found a picture on the web of a F250 with the same bed (Different cab, I don't have the 4 full doors) and it leads me to think I could use it. Thoughts?
(Not my truck, I have the 2 smaller rear doors, but same model camper in a 6.5 bed)
