Cool Arctic Fox slide issues

I have a neighbor who has an Arctic Fox truck camper. The slide keeps breaking the shear pin. He does replace it when it breaks, but I looked and the gear teeth looked worn. Something is causing the slide to snap the pin. He has broken three so far. What could be jamming or blocking the slide to force it to break pins and wear on the gears? Any hints what to look for?

With the exception of the dual-slide model, the Arctic Fox uses a PowerGear slide mechanism. Look at the slide as it is deployed and brought back in, it should be even with the camper parallel and run smoothly. If one side of the slide skipped a tooth and was not realigned, that could be cause for the binding and pin failure.

Unhappy Arctic Fox gear wheel

Thanks for this. The gear wheel on one side looks worn. The slide has snapped three pins, about one every third time it opens and closes. Is this something that can be easily fixed, should Arctic Fox be called or, does it required major work? Is Arctic Fox easy to talk to?

I had few issues with my Arctic Fox and a good dealer nearby, so I did not ever contact the factory. Truck Camper Warehouse in NH sells AF and gets good feedback from customers. Call Ryan up there and see what options he offers.

I wanted a sofa from a wolf creek 850 for my bigfoot and the dealer here in Colorado and north wood were very responsive. I would call a dealer and go from there.

I know this is a late reply, but i had the same issues. Go to the hardware store and buy grade 8 bolt and self lockin nut. Mine hasn't failed now in 6 years.

slide bolt issue

He still has the problem but avoids the bolt breaking by not locking the slide in place. I asked him for clarification but he is fishing at the moment and will post more if it is anything different. He did not want to use stronger bolts for fear of damaging the slide.
