Hello Everyone....

Lets see if I can clear up some misc/comceptions of these inverter style gen/sets..

If You are looking at a gen/set that has an Inverter in it this is what is happening...

The engine turns the generator that produces D/C POWER.YES thats right D/C Power...(I believe My generac D/C voltage is 180).

SO now you need a device to take that D/C Voltage and change it into usuable A/C voltage..Thats where the built/in Inverter comes into play....It takes that D/C power and Converts it to 120 volts 60 cycles ....

Altho they may be out there--I know of no gen/set at the moment that functions in a dual capicity --as a Gen/set--and as a Inverter to take your on/board 12 volt D/C battery power and convert it to 120 volts A/C...

You will need to install a seperate Inverter like I did, along with a battery bank to power that very very hungry 2000 watt Inverter

Some of you may know that Onans are now being installed in the new Lances but BE aware that I believe the Onans are only rated at 2800 watts(Im sure someone will correct me if Im wrong)vers the Generac that produces 3600 watts AT SEA LEVEL...AS you get into higher elevations both units will produce less watts..

This is no knock to Onan and I do believe that they make excellant Gen/set but I would find it hard pressed to operate an 13500 A/C rated at ohhhh say 14 to 16 AMPS and a 1000 watt Microwave at the same time....

I appreciate your explanation. I guess my topic of looking for an inverter generator with a remote starter got side tracked.
I agree with what you said. Only the Onan 2500 LP would fit in my compartment, but the noise and the high fuel consumption is a turn-off no matter how badly I would wish to have a remote control. The most significant feature of the inverter generator is the capability to produce A/C at any rpm. As demand drops the rpm is reduced and therefore is the most economical.
I just wish Honda would have a modified electric start generator of the right dimensions. It seems so far there is no other manufacturer who makes what I would like.
I thought there would be a demand for a generator like this, especially for truck campers.

Generac makes the generator you're looking for. Do a "Google" search for "Generac Impact36 RV Generators".

I have one in my Nash TT, it's LP powered and rated at 3400W. It has no problem running a 15K A/C with power to spare.

Hope this helps
