Does anyone know of a built-in, remote controlled inverter generator made and where I can buy one? It must fit the Bigfoot 2500 10.6 generator compartment. Gas or propane.

Are you asking about whether the onan generator (comes with BF campers) will fit inside the gen box?
If so go to:
http://duedall.fit.edu/yellow/generator_issues.htm
Last year I thought I had a gen problem; turned out to be a faulty on/off switch..gen was fine but after having considerable problems removing the gen I modifed the box/gas lines/electrical box and also bought a proper onan start switch.
While visiting onan, I found that onan makes a slightly smaller (in dimensions) sized unit than the Microlite 2500. I suggest you investigage it as the 2500 is a very tight fit inside the BF gen box. I have the 3000 but I am guessing that the 2500 will have the same size box. Follow the links in the above site. If you have specific questions you can contact me at duedall@fit.edu

Hemi,
I'm looking for an INVERTER generator. The Onan is a good generator and would fit, but I don't believe it has an inverter. I'm trying to get something like the Onan but quieter with a remote starter. I wrote to Onan about the inverter genarators but it takes a while to produce it.

Honda makes generators for on-board installations (EV4010 and 6010)but they are not inverter types. The EU300is may not fit in your unit.

My Honda 3000 EUi is an inverter gen set. It is 24x24x24 and fits on my ATV trailer just fine. I would never consider putting it in the box that Lance had made for a gen set.

Forgive me guys but I'd love some clarification.
The inverter generator will provide a/c power when turned 'off'...do I have this right?
It will take stored d/c power from our batteries and provide a/c.
As opposed to my Onan unit on the Bigfoot 3000 which will provide a/c power only while running.
Best regards

Rick,
The inverter type generators do NOT provide power when they are turned off. What they do is enable the generator to run at a slower, therefore quieter, speed when not under full load.
In order to provide AC power when the generator is not running and you're not plugged in you need a separate inverter, which will take 12vdc and provide 120vac. What you have to remember is that for each 100 watts of AC, you will use about 10 amps of DC, so you can chew through all of your available battery power very quickly.
L8r,
Steve

I have a EU 3000 on my 5'er and it does not produce power when turned off. For that you would need an inverter like a Trace 3000. Mine works great.
Cheers

Just FYI, there has been a discussion of a Honda "equivalent" inverter generator in another forum.
Quote from topic starter:
"Sinemaster generator. They can be found on e-bay and at www.advancedmart.com. They claim to be as good as Honda at half the price."
Anyone here own a Sinemaster?

It looks to me like the "Sinemaster" doesn't have electric start on their 3000 series, like the Honda has, which would impact the cost.
So for me, I would still pay a little more for the Honda and have the convience of electric start, if I were looking at the 3000 series.

The Sinemaster KGE3500Ti does in fact have electric start from the on board battery plus the good old fashioned and somewhat reliable pull start.

We added a Xantrex/Heart 2000 watt inverter with built in battery charger to our Arctic Fox 11.5 truck camper. Plus four 6volt batteries.
The Generac generator that came with the Afox was a DC generator and came with an AC inverter.

Scooter,
I would like to know more about your generator. Since it has an inverter I assume it will generate 120 V AC at any rpm. That's what I'm looking for. Can you start it remotely from inside of the camper? Does it run on propane or gasoline? How about the dimensions?
I kind wish I had bought an inverter-charger to start with. Does your inverter charger switch over automatically when it senses shore power?
Larry.
