Camper weights by Truck type

I have a lance 11 foot 1992 added second battery n bed with a quick disconnect plug so I can plug it in with camper on. I pull battery when camper is in storage not used. Iam also planning a deck to add to my camper. That's a whole new chapter in my Rv things.

Blahargoue Titan may make an aftermarket tank that can replace the factory fuel tank on your truck. Most of their replacement tanks hold 56 gallons or more of fuel. My 2011 truck has a 36 gallon fuel tank but with the camper and a headwind the diesel engine is providing 10-11 MPG so the range is a less than stellar 300 miles before looking for a gas station that has diesel. Unfortunately there are no aftermarket replacement fuel tanks for my standard bed truck with the extended cab.

I did make an error in my earlier statement that the diesel engine affects payload as it really does not. The weight of the diesel is carried by the front wheels and a camper's weight is carried by the rear wheels. The 800 lb. engine weight differential affects only the theoretical payload when taking the GVWR and subtracting the total weight of the truck. Manufacturers also provide a calculated value for the payload that is based on the weakest link. This is the tires with a SRW truck and these can be changed out. Second variable is the leaf springs (and the main difference between a 2500 and a 3500 truck) and these can be added to as well at minor expense and effort. When towing a heavy trailer people routinely add a weight distributing hitch or a pin for 5th wheel trailer and often air bags, but for some reason the concept has not carried over to folks hauling a heavy camper. There is nothing wrong with adding or replacing tires, shocks, lead springs, anti-sway bar, etc. to accommodate the load.
