If you have room for it, will not be in the way, weight is not an issue and you can secure it so it can not be stolen I would take it.

Never know when an opportunity to start it up may occur. Highway closure, Walmarting it for a night, ????

I have 200 Watts of solar and two 110 Ah 12v batteries and the only time I need 110AC is if we feel the need to run the air conditioner. Average use for us of the AC is less than 2 days out of the year. When we want to use the AC we go to a campground with hookups.

I decided that hauling around a generator and fuel for it was not something I wanted to do. Even less did I want to have to power it on and then babysit it while it ran and then shut it off. With the solar panels I have not had to do anything other than hose them off once a year. The batteries are always back at 100% by noon the following day.

I also did not want the noise of a generator. It seems idiotic to go camping and have the noise of a generator going which makes it impossible to hear the natural sounds or even the silence of being out of town.

If you have room I would take it. Other then the weight I don't know what the disadvantage would be. and that's a minor consideration.

A lot of things can be run off of a battery bank with inverters but not the AC. If you'll be where it hot and need AC you'll be glad to have the genny.

Well, it takes a pretty good size generator to run A/C. Even without the A/C I wouldn't want to be without a generator these day. Lots of other "emergency" uses for one that can get you out of a jam.
