Wife has suggested that we sell our rig. It is paid for but my work situation has not allowed ny time off for over a year. We have a new Lance 1130 sitting alongside the garage.
So, how do I convince her that it is no different than sitting on a dealers lot. Except we own it.

Remind her of all the fun you had while camping. Let her talk to me. We were without for about 1 1/2 years. It drove me crazy. Had to stay in motels. UUUUGGGGGHHHHH. Besides you'll get off sometime won't you???????

Someday. I left a career of 33 years and 6 weeks vacation. To retire to "God's Country" in Southern Utah. While here I have worked three or four jobs. No time accrual for vacation. Maybe next year.

I would say selling depends on how long it will be before you and her can use the unit. Lance units are not getting any cheaper to buy. There will be depreciation now and future price increases if you sell and buy again later. Will your work keep you away from the camper long enough to justify selling it when taking into account all cost factors? I guess this would be the deciding question.

I agree. Since the unit is paid for and there is no insurance or registration fees.....I think I'll just keep it for now.
Thanks for the input.

Hang on to it unless you need the $. I am in a similar situation. We go a few times a year and are buying a house. It would be nice to sell the camper to free up the money for monthly payments, but on the other hand a few more years and it's paid off. Look at how many more good years of use the camper can give. I can't see how sitting could really hurt it. Cover it to protect it from UV damage, maybe set it on something to take the weight off the jacks. It wouldn't bother me to store mine for a few years if I didn't have the time to use it.

Thanks, super duty. I am thinking about building a frame that it can sit on. What would be even better is put some wheels on it so I could build a carport to store it under. Sounds like a winter "think tank" project and a Spring "to do" task.

I have my 'occasional use' Lance sitting on a metal frame with caster wheels inside my shop.

The caster wheels make it very handy to move around should the need arise.

I placed plywood on top of the metal cross pieces so the bottom of the Lance would have a comfortable resting spot.

I built it all myself. The price of steel has gone so high, the steel that I used is now $1.80 per foot.
