Enjoyed the benefits of the 2000i Honda ever since they came on the market. I would like to find one that fits the generator compartment and is remotely controlled. Honda 3000i appears to be the answer, but the compartment would have to be enlarged. Is anyone out there who tried this with success?
The other approach would be to find an inverter generator that fits the compartment. I did contact Onan and they said they will have a new inverter generator on their website in the beginning of January. Well it's not quite January and I saw a Onan inverter/CHARGER on the Onan website. I just hope I wasn't misunderstood.
The Bigfoot was built to accept the Onan 2500LP generator, but it would sure be nicer to have noise levels closer to the Honda 3000i.
I would like to hear any suggestions. I know this is not a NEED but rather a WANT. I just would like to have the truly complete camper.
regards,
Larry

I've never heard one of those small Honda's running, but my Onan 2500 sounds pretty quiet to me. Onan claims it meet forest service noise standards. Have you heard a Onan running? It's nothing like those cheap portable generators. I've had mine in my camper for 7 years now and it still works great and is nice and quiet. Matter of fact it works really well powering the furnace in my home, which I had to do for 3 days recently when a big windstorm knocked out everyones power for days.

Ayeedo2, A few years ago I had to remove my Onan 2500 (in a Bigfoot 3000)...actually there was nothing wrong with it...the start switch on the stove hood was bad...Anyway, removing the generator and then reinstalling gave me a chance to make some improvements on the gen box, gas line etc.

You can see the changes at:

Also, I agree with Harald...the Onan 2500 is pretty quite. Hemi
