Just getting back into a TC
We just downsized from a 30 ft Class C to a Lance 992 (9' 11") with 2 slides. We bought the TC last week Friday and have not used it yet; but soon, very soon.

A fine looking T/C. I would go for beefier tie-downs unless there have been improvements since we ditched ours in 2004. We had TorkLifts.

I agree Torklifts are the only way to go. can't believe they would install a camper that size without frame mounted Torklifts.

Very nice. We looked at a 992, but went with a 1191 because my wife wanted a dry bath. We are really enjoying it. We just went to the mid Atlantic truck camper rally in VA. last week. We downsized from a 33 ft. tagalong with 2 slides. We have the tork lift tie downs and really like them.

Tie-downs
I’m thinking the choice of tie downs is akin to the choice of trucks. I’ve been a Chevy man all my life and don’t think I want to change at this late date. But all of the big three make good products and they all have warts. Tie downs are the same. The two main systems have their fans and opponents. And not being familiar with either when I started my research a couple of months ago, I sought as much information as I could. For me personally, I found more pluses with Happijac than I did with TorkLift, not the least of which was that Lance recommends Happijac for all of their campers. And just so you know, the Happijacs are in fact attached to the frame in the front end where it really counts.
And currently, I’m registered to post on 5 TC websites plus the TC Magazine website. I’ve found them to be very friendly and very helpful with problems and questions. I even found a website devoted to Silverado & Sierra owners with a ton of valuable information about maintaining and modifying all the GM trucks.

I didn't even know they made TCs with slide outs. That looks awesome!

We've owned four different Lance campers since about 1986. We also owned fifth wheels at the same time. In 2001, we sold the 31' Hitchhiker 5th wheel with two slide outs because we had not used it in over two years. We've never regretted our decision. Our present Lance camper has a slide out and all the factory options plus some that we added when we special ordered it from Lance. We've enjoyed traveling thousands of miles with it.

Nice looking package. We considered the 992 and opted for the AF996. Taking delivery in about 2 weeks and will christen it on the trip home. Please post up with your thoughts after giving it a shake down cruise and if you would, share the GM site you found as we're driving a new Chevy 3500 Diesel DRW and can always use more ideas (read places to spend our $)

We owned a 992 on a Dodge 1 ton dually truck.
Great quality camper!! A bit heavy.
The only draw back: were not happy with our storage space.
We had more storage space in our Northern Lite.

VERY LIMITED storage in this unit. We'll make do because we REALLY like the layout.
If storage space is at the top of your list, then the new 2013 Eagle Cap 1165 triple-slide is just what your looking for; that is if you can afford the truck needed to haul 6,000 plus lbs.

Dubob, you are going to like this camper because it's first class quality.
We drove it across Canada from coast to coast.
Spend 75 days in it.
I changed the table top because we found it a bit to short.
Designed a new top for it, a couple of inches wider.
I made it to fit over top of the original table.
Do you own a dually truck?
Found it hard on the back tires.
They were wearing out on this trip pretty fast.
We owned this camper two years.
Now we travel in a Triple E Motorhome Regency.

Yep! 2008 Chevy 3500HD Crew Cab, DRW, Duramax, Air Lift bags, 235/80R17 E tires.
