Looked at truck campers today

I was at Ocean Grove RV is St. Augustine looking at Lance truck campers. I was surprised there were a lot if 4,500 to 5,200 lb. truck campers. For some reason I expected 2,500 to 3,500 lbs.

I also looked at the Lance travel trailers while I was there. My current truck 2017 F-250 6.2 gas with a cargo capacity of 3,497lbs would be happier with a Travel Trailer...but wow, the 5,000lb truck campers were sure nice with multiple slides. One even had a small island.

Yup. Once it is on for the season, it’s staying on. Never mind the cost up upgrading TV.. you could get a pretty nice set up for that cost.

Truck camper people are notorious for grotesquely overloading their vehicle, (and then going on-line and vehemently defending their foolish actions).
Anyhow...
Simple rule of thumb is to take the camper's dry weight as posted on its VIN plate, add 800 pounds to it, and then get a truck that meets or exceed that payload rating as posted on the truck's Tread Act sticker.

And BTW, as a truck camper person myself, I proudly (foolishly?) run well over my vehicle's posted GVWR.

You mentioned Lance Travel Trailers... Good stuff!
I see a Lance 2185 in my future.

LOL, as a "ex" truck camper person, I can say the same.
