Retro Fit From Ice Box to AC Frig

I'm still in the planning process of modernizing my 70's Cab Over with some updated items. Namely, replacing my Ice Box type Frig with a small AC type Frig. Since I am going to have a generator, and have room for two 6 volt batteries, about how long would that operate say a 3 cubic foot Frig using an inverter? I know that some of the high end MH's are currently using House type Frig's which are much larger than what I plan to install, and some of my friends tell me they usually get about 24 hours of Frig operation with their two dedicated 6 volt batteries. Any one have any experience with this type of setup? Thanks
David

I plugged my 3.5 cubic foot frig in to a 400W or 500W inverter it almost had more then it could start but it did run it just fine. It was drawing 9A of 12v power to run it 2 225 AH 6v batteries would run it about 50 hours I think and that is if it never shutoff.

I am planning to use a 1000 watt inverter, so I should be O.K. as far as starting current goes. However, I suppose the inverter itself will use a little more power through heat loss. Thanks for your reply.
