hi all,
I have question about need for WDH when towing. I have 2001 Ford F350 Dually, GVWR 11,000lbs. I carry Lance 915, 3000lbs loaded, and tow an 18' 2,600 lb trailer with 1,600 lbs of animals.

Two questions. First, I have adjustable shocks and Torquelift tiedowns and Superhitch. Truck rear drops about 3.5" with camper loaded on. I bought a WDH to install myself. Should I get the truck perfectly level before install?? With air bags or Stablelift? The truck handles fine as it is.

Second, The trailer sits level when hitched. . Looking at instructions, seems I need to know the loaded tralers tongue weight. Is there a formula to estimate this?

I guess maybe 3 questions...Third, do I really need this WDH? I've not noticed sway before, but i am planning a 1200 mile interstate highway trip.

What the hitch does

helps in reduceing the wiggle in a towed unit, reduces the bounce in other words if you were jumping up and down at the hitch the up and down movement, puts more weight on the front tires so the rears don't have all the load on them.

You want to get the 2 units level the hitch helps all around by doing a little of everything. hope this helps

Turns out the spring arms were too long for the front of trailer. I went to the RV shop to see if they had one that would fit. He said it is not recommended to use WDH with a Torque Lift Superhitch extension. He suggested Firestone Air Bags, and said thatwould do the job. I guess air bags are in my future.

Hi Mule Gal. I am not sure I understand the RV shops information. I went to the Torque lift web site and everything I saw there said that the capacity of the extensions is INCREASED with the weight distributing hitch. I added WD to our camper package when towing our boat and found that everything feels more stable. I would recommend checking out the site directly. For long trips I really like the weight distribution hitchs, especially if you are near maximum on your rear axle...
