Hopefully the manufacturer ran the cable loose or in other words, didn't tie it down in the ceiling.. Get up on the roof and have someone in the rig holding onto the cable. Try pulling the cable and find out if they felt a 'tug' on the line. If so, use friction tape or duct tape and tape the new wire to the old wire but overlap the wires by at least 6 to 8 inches then pull the new wire through the ceiling. I've done it before and it works best with 2 people, one to pull and the other to feed the wire into the roof.
