water heater won't stay lit

water heater won't stay lit,its a suburban sw6d dsi heater, burner lights but goes out immediately. i have propane, stove and fridge work fine and the water heater was working just fine yesterday. This is in a 2004 arctic fox camper. Any ideas on what to check, I'm in a campground at the moment.

Sounds like maybe air in line or something crudded up at burner. Check vent pipe for obstruction.

I had a similar problem in that the burner would run for 5 minutes and then shut off. I cleaned the flue and replaced the sensor without luck. Turned out to be the gas valve - this is not a DIY project. It could also be a circuit board.

I replace the electrode and that didn't fix it so I called dinosaur boards and I'm getting a new board for the water heater.

your not sensing flame from the sounds of it check your ground wire to the heater chassis. The flame will put out a small voltage which the probe must sense and send back to the board to tell it the unit is lit.

Ordered the board yesterday and it got here today, installed it and it works, hot water. This is the second time dealing with Dinosaur Electronics and they came through both times, with help and the correct part that works. They got me in touch with R&G Electronic Specialty Inc. in So. Ca. to order the board. Spoke with Roy who was very informative and just a nice guy to talk to, he is also the owner and once was partners with Guy, the owner of Dinosaur Electronics. If you ever have the need for a circuit board I wouldn't hesitate to call them.
