Nothing will make a big dually with an 8' bed look smaller than an Attic Foxx 865 truck camper.

I have a dually with the 'camper package. My truck probably can not handle that camper.

All the newest trucks have increased payload but 4,500lbs seems to be near the limit. Not sure if you can option a truck to carry more.

Good luck

That's a ridiculous statement. Here is my short bed F250 with an Arctic Fox 811:

Here is the same truck and camper with an 8000 lb 20' trailer hitched behind it:

I like Chevy because they give me reliable service. If they didn't, I'd buy something else.
Some good points up there.
My two cents worth. . .

1.) You are correct on the 'configuration' issue.
The payload on my 2016 RAM 3500 (SRW) crew cab is an anemic 3705#.
That same truck in the proper configuration could have been 4160# even with the Cummins engine!
(And of course going to a dually brings those numbers up to the 7000+ pound category)

2.) Had an 89 GMC 3500HD dually crew cab, an 07 F250, and now the RAM 3500. I never had an issue with any of them, thus I would agree; buy what makes you smile.

Ridiculous?
I'd put it this way:

-An experienced camper such as you,
-with a CDL skill set,
-that knows how to swing a wrench & fabricate,
-and has a shop to do it in...
can indeed put an 811 on an F250 while towing a big tandem trailer, and do it all very safely.

However...
For the average Joe it would be a compound disaster.

Just saying. Even your current rig would be dangerous in the hands of a novice.
That 16,000 pounds doesn't handle anything like Jonny Beancounter's Honda Civic daily driver.

I did not build anything that has not been done in the past. Everything was bolt on and could be done on a flat driveway. You just need to do research to know which parts to upgrade rather than throwing money and parts on a problem until it gets fixed without knowing why. I thank you for the compliment, but it's one I do not deserve.
