The Broken Mower
When our lawn mower broke and wouldn't run, my wife kept hinting to me that I should get it fixed. But, somehow I always had something else to take care of first, the truck, the car, playing golf - always something more important to me.
Finally she thought of a clever way to make her point. When I arrived home one day, I found her seated in the tall grass, busily snipping away with a tiny pair of sewing scissors. I watched silently for a short time and then went into the house. I was gone only a minute, and when I came out again, I handed her a toothbrush. I said, When you finish cutting the grass, you might as well sweep the driveway".
The doctors say I will walk again, but I will always have a limp.

Thanks for the laugh. I have 2 brief lawnmower stories to add.
1. When we were young (and foolish), I worked 6 days a week, so my wife took care of the yard as well as the house and the kids. She was about 7 months pregnant with our 3rd child, when I decided to buy her a used power mower for our anniversary. I thought it was a generous, loving gift... 40 years later I still get reminded...
2. When we retired to the mountains several years ago, I gave our 2-yr old lawnmower to the son mentioned above, and bought a snowblower. We didn't plant anything "in the woods" that required mowing!!! That's retirement!

Many years ago, my Dad thought he was getting Mom a fine Mother's Day gift, an electric edger with a nice long extension cord. She had been keeping the side walk edged with a hoe. She reminded him of his nice gift when she got him a nice cannister vacuum for Father's Day.
Our new house has ZERO grass, a nice natural wooded area with enough room cleared for the house, garage, shop, drive and 2 Ham antennas.

Kind of reminds me of the time when home game systems were new...I thought I would be original and spontaneous for my wife's birthday and got her a Nintendo game system. Secretly she loved it because we sure played the heck out of some Super Mario Bros., but she still reminds me of that gift now and then.
