We know that but in those days you really did not have what we now relate as an os.

Past work on IRS systems where you loaded a row of
switches to set the operating mode was old magic but that was way back.

But these scammed likely will not have a Cobol department but having them make one up would be fun...

I read about one person who was prepared for them. Put a bunch important financial sounding names on around 50 or so files in a virtual Windows machine on a Linux box. He let them on the Windows machine and watched while they stole every one of those files. Thing was they were all various virus files.

Or tell them you have your own Sperry Univac or DEC VAX system because personal computers are just a trend.

After receiving an IRS scam call, i tell my wife when she is being a grump, I will call the IRS and them to come and get her.
