Funny RV rental story
Today at lunch a fellow co-worker and I were discussing our Spring break trips. She mentioned that her family of 5 (kids are all teens) are going to rent an RV and travel to Yellowstone. Conversation as follows:
Her: "Yes we plan to rent the kind of RV that's part truck"
Me: "oh a Class C"
Her: "No we're driving it not towing"
Me: "good. So did you ask what the company provides? Dishes, towels etc."
Her: "Oh good idea"
Me: "I'm sure they'll give a lesson on all the systems before you leave"
Her: "What systems?"
Me: "Well how to hook up, where electric, water and sewer are"
Her: "Sewer?"
Me:"Yes you hook up the sewer hose"
Her: "I thought the people at the place do that! Don't they come and drive you to the place and plug it in?"
Me: -laughing - "Nope, you get the joy of dumping your own poop!"
Her: "maybe I need to rethink this..."

Funny to hear what people think we do to, and in our coaches.

I saw a very nice high end coach pull up to a camping spot and the driver got out and looked and looked walking around the site several times. He looked lost as a ball in high weeds. So I moseyed down the road a bit and asked him if he needed any assistance. He said "thank goodness you are finally here. What took you so long, I thought I was going to have to park this thing myself!" When I explained I was just the camper in the old coach down the lane, he said "I'll pay you to park this thing for me!"

I got a great deal on my class B because a friend of mine bought it and only camped in it twice as it wasn't quite what she thought it was going to be...it was too much work and not "glamorous" as she had thought.

When we picked up our brand new '02 DSDP at the dealer they were just sending a Cadillac dealer on his way. First RV of any kind and I think it was an MADP 40' or larger. They had set his Cadillac up to tow and no driving lessons that we saw. No idea how that ended up but we stayed off the road for a while.

In a campground once with more family members. across the drive from us was a couple that was tent camping for the first time. The second day there the couple gave my brother-in-law the tent and all accessories. They said it was not what they expected.

Part of our entertainment is watching others backing the rigs into place. I should rethink that and offer lessons for a few bucks.

I recall a time we were at a state park and a class C rental pulled in head first into the spot next to us. So we got ready for some entertainment. The group realized the "plug" was on the opposite side of the RV. So did they pull out and back the rig in...nope. They had one of the guys CRAWL UNDER the RV to drag the plug over! Worth the price of admission! Too bad there wasn't a sewer hook up. I would've loved to see how they dealt with that!

Watching newbies setting up is half the fun, I love seeing the rentals pull in. Reminds me of the move RV, with Robin Williams.

The rentals with the sides bashed in about halfway back where they don't see the low posts.
