Thought I'd share with you the experience I had on the golf course last week. My friend was not feeling well so I went to play the Texas City course by myself.
Being a single, the starter paired me up with two other players who turned out to be Baptist preachers from Galveston. One appeared to be in his late 40's or early 50's and the other in his early 20's. The elder was apparently advising the younger on how to address problems he was having in his church.
At the short par-3 fifth hole, the younger asks, "What are you going to use on this hole. The elder preacher says, "a hard 8-iron, how about you?"
The younger one said, "I'm going to hit a soft seven and pray."
The senior preacher hit his 8-iron and put the ball on the green.
The younger one topped his 7-iron and dribbles the ball out a few yards.
The elder man said, "I don't know about you, brother, but in my church, when we pray, we keep our head down."
Best advice he gave all day.
