Minced Moose Meat ….

Willa and I were somewhere up in Canada going toward Edmonton, I think. We love to sample the local food at about every opportunity and we saw a cafe on the side of the road that fetured ''Home Cooked Meals'' so we decided to stop. There were gas pumps outside and I told Willa that we could fill the tank and our bellies at the same time.
I wheeled in the dirt parking lot, up to the pumps and a guy with a apron and a ''cooks paper hat'' on came out to pump the gas. He said he was the complete ''staff'' as it was the waitresses and the gas pump guy/mechanics day off because they were ''dating'' and they were off ''fooling around'' somewhere. He said go on inside and look at the chalk board menu and he would be in soon. He started pumping gas and we went inside.
The place was one of those ''combination'' stores. They sold gas, oil, fan belts, used tires and other stuff for cars. They also had a small grocery store with canned goods and fresh milk and meat.
We sat down and looked at the ''chalk board''
To days special........ Mashed and Minced Moose Meat........ 5.00 Canadian...includes beverage.........

HUMMMMMMMMM?
The guy came back in wiping his hands on his apron and got a ticket book.
''Scuse me sir..... What exactly is Mashed and Minced Moose Meat?
''Oh, its a local delicacy we fix right here and we are pretty famous for it''.......
''What exactly does it have in it please'' '' I have never tried ''Mashed and Minced Moose Meat''
''Well, we shoot a moose or two up here in the winter. Then we mince up the complete Moose and Marinate it along with Mashed Mushrooms that we pick locally. This gives us the Minced Moose Meat that has been Marinated with Mashed Mushrooms. Then we mix in the secret sauce and its made form secret stuff and I cant tell you what it is but we make it ourselves. Then we take the Minced Moose Meat , Marinated with Mashed Mushrooms and the combined secret sauce and we Mash it out flat on a piece of Masonite and put it on the roof for a couple of days to ''Mellow out''.... then we re-mince the meat and serve it on a toasted bun............ You want one????
''what exactly do you have to drink with this MASHED and MINCED MOOSE MEAT MARINATED WITH MASHED MUSHROOMS and SECRET SAUCE that has been Seasoned on Masonite on your roof for a couple of days????””
''Mares milk'' …..... ''Delicious with the sandwich''....... ''its on special today only''
''you want one''?
''I think I will give one a try and dont forget to put some Mayonnaise and Mustard on the sandwich also. ''
''I will also have a large mug of mares milk please''
''Hay Willa, you want a sandwich''?
“No thanks, I think I will go out to the coach and eat a handful of Kibbles and Bitts and wash it down with some radiator water”..........................
''Ok pal, let me wash my hands and I will fix you right up.......... Thats one Mashed and Minced Moose Meat sandwich Marinated with Mashed Mushrooms.with secret sauce. and Mayo and Mustard on both sides of the bun and a large Mug of Mares Milk....... COMIN RIGHT UP............

This is three days later and my tummie is finally settling down to normal and I am now able to drive because I dont have to sit on the toilet most of the day.
Heading for Alaska the adventure continues ..
Seajay and Willa

Hehehe....I think I can guess the restaurant....I'm thinking it was at Alsike Corners west of Edmonton. When I was surveying years ago I had to opportunity to eat at every little restaurant in the boonies pretty much everywhere in Alberta. LOL. 3 days to get your gizzards back to normal...yer lucky!

Seajay stop giving all these great chapters of your book away for free.
I have been called "Mr. El Cheapo", but I would pay for these adventures.
