Our crazy English language!
I've always heard that the English language (USA version) is one of the hardest to learn because of all the words that sound alike but have different meanings, and, worst of all, words that are spelled the same but mean something totally different depending on how they're used in a sentence.
Then you have those folks from that foreign country up north called "Boston", that speak a totally different language!
And then after learning all that you can come down south and we'll teach you how to really speak English! Ya'll git that doncha?
First, lets see how many of those words you can name that sound the same but are spelled differently, and have totally different meanings.
To, too, two
Four, fore
Ate, eight
Ten, tin
Dear, deer
Pain, pane
OK, your turn!

The plural goose is geese, is the plural moose meece?
About to, two, and too. How you'd you write the sentence "there are three ___ in the English language"
I might read, or I have read, a book.

I first got hit by that one by a Russian born teacher when I was learning the Russian language back in 59

While stationed in Germany my daughter went to school on the economy. Her teacher finally asked me to stop helping her with her English assignments. Seems they teach the Queens English not American English. Who knew?
(BTW, In college English 101, I got an A-, go figure.)

Maybe you should look at Welsh, also. There was a piece on the web yesterday about a small village in the county of Pembrokeshire which is about to get the UK record for days of continuous rain. It stood at 88 days yesterday and if it rains there today, they'll have had 89 consecutive days.
The village is called "Eglwyswrw". Try pronouncing that! It apparently means "the Church of Saint Eriw" when translated into English.
