A short time ago on the IRV homepage was a picture of a nice truck & camper parked on a flat beach which remined me a trip to Pismo some years ago.
In the '70s, purchased a Toyota Chinook camper & when we arrived at the beach there were two large camps of campers, motor homes, ect all with dune buggies that were racing around, making a lot of noise and jumping over anything that didn't move.
Ask a park ranger if he knew of a quiet place to spend the night and he said "follow me". We followed him to an outcopping of rocks. He made a rectangle with his foot in the sand and said "park here, buggies stay away from these rocks".
Had an enjoyable evening, No buggy noise & a beautiful Pacific sunset with our back door towards the ocean.
Next morning found seaweed on the back bumper and around the front wheels. That Toyota wasn't that high off the ground. We were lucky not to float away.
