4100 first time out---I think Aguyfromcalg is correct---most of us learned how to make change by counting backward w/o the benefit of a calculator---anyone who had a paper route and collected door to door, or worked a concessions stand, or mowed lawns to make money can do this standing on their head.

Here in Seattle we have a local hamburger stand called Dicks---the kids that work there make change the old fashion way because the cash registers do not display the change amount---they also tally the cost of the order in their heads (simple menu). Some of them actually know how to spell---so I'm told.

I notice one thing about those who posted the correct answer. Most own a class A.

Wow. How embarassing. And I'm a math teacher. I got 5000 the first time! Aguyfromcalg, we own a 2006 Country Coach, so I think I blew your Class A theory.

Well, I'm late to the party but I got 4100 too, I can see how some folks wold come up with 5000 so Num1dgh it's nothing to be embarrassed about.. The thing is carefully worded to make you add that extra zero to the smaller numbers.

I majored in math and can still do some serious calculations in my head if I apply myself, and knowing it was a trick I double calced everything. IN MY HEAD (handy being schizophrenic sometimes) before coming up with 4100 on both sides.

I'm sure many will get this one too:

How much dirt in a hole 10 feet long, 3 feet wide and 8 feet deep?

If you want to figure it out stop reading now

This line is also to help you think

As is this one.

If there was dirt in the hole there would be no hole so the answer is NONE.

wa8yxm, I looked at your questions and thought, "okay, I know volume is length X width X height; I'll get this right!" Of course, I came up with 240. I'm going to use that question on a test.

Yup, the question is not "Can you do the math?" it's Can you read? and for a fact.. most folks can not.

Remember when you were a kit and the other kids would say "Railroad Track Watch Out For the Cars can you spell THAT without any Rs?

The answer YES.. the next answer is T H A T .
