I was the first 'Yankee' in a long line of Southerners.

Took me a long time to understand most of what any of my relatives were saying.
Some of their sayings.......most are easy enough to decipher

Grandma--------“He don't got all what belongs to him.”

Uncle Revis......."He's so useless if he had a third hand he'd need an extra pocket to stick it in"

My Dad............"Quit goin' around your butt to get to your elbow"

My MOM.........." Looked at me like a tree full of Owls"

And my GrandPa.........."Fool couldn't be happier than a dead pig in the sunshine"
This one took me a while to figure out.........."Blissfully Ignorant"

You can't fix stupid. Hungry enough to eat the north end of a skunk headed south. Deader than a door nail. Flatter than a pancake.

Be like a tree and leave.

Put an egg in your shoe and beat it.

Colder than a welldigger's butt.

So ugly they hit every branch on the way down when they fell out of the ugly tree.

Their "elevator" doesn't go to the top floor.

Lights are on but nobody's home. (not too bright)

"I suppose if everybody else jumped in the lake you have to also!"

You cross your eyes like that and they will stay that way!

Sayings that make you go: "HUH?"

Not the sharpest knife in the drawer

My mom: if I told you once I've told you a million times to....

When God was passing out looks you thought he said books and you replied I'll take a funny one.

Dad: "wherever you go, you take yourself with you."

Me: "Of course I do !?!" - not realizing he was referring to my character/reputation - that came once I grew up a bit......
